Katarzyna Szymańska holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences and a postgraduate study diploma in languages and translation (specialty: English). In the today’s world of high specialisation, her motto is interdisciplinarity and cross-discipline collaboration. Having spent ten years in cancer research, she has moved to lecturing life sciences. She has also participated in educational (knowledge transfer) programmes being set up in developing countries. In parallel, she has been working as a free-lance translator / interpreter as well as reviewer of the English language. Finally, she has also become a scientific and editorial consultant for bioindustry. Currently, in addition to holding a part-time lecturer position, she is involved in a large variety of free-lance communication and biomedical science-related activities: from scientific evaluation and monitoring (intelligence) to editing and scientific writing, and finally tailor-made trainings in science and communication. Recently, she has contributed over a dozen of chapters to the Encyclopedia of Cancer, Third Edition, by Elsevier (2019).
